How to Enter or Override EU Customs Identifiers When Creating a Shipment in Selro

S
Written by Selro Support

Selro allows you to enter or override EU Customs Product Identifiers directly when creating shipping labels.

If the required product identifiers are missing from your Selro inventory, you can manually enter them during shipment creation without having to return to the product editor.

This feature helps ensure the correct product information is available for electronic customs declarations when shipping goods to customers in the European Union (EU).

Step 1: Open Your Orders

  1. Log in to your Selro account.

  2. Navigate to Orders → Unshipped Orders.

  3. Find and select the order you want to ship.

  4. Click Create Shipping Labels.

  5. Select your preferred shipping carrier and service.

Step 2: Open Electronic Customs Data

When creating a shipping label for an international shipment, open the Electronic Customs Data section.

This screen allows you to enter customs information, including:

  • Recipient VAT, EORI and other applicable customs references.

  • HS Codes (Export and Import).

  • Item descriptions and customs values.

  • Country of Origin.

  • IOSS information, where applicable.

  • EU Customs Product Identifiers.

Step 3: Locate the EU Customs Identifiers Section

Within Electronic Customs Data, find the relevant product under Product Details.

Each product has a dedicated EU Customs Identifiers section.

The following fields are available:

Field

Description

Merchant Product Identifier (SKU)

The merchant's product reference, normally the product SKU.

Manufacturer Product Identifier (MPN)

The manufacturer's part or model number.

Barcode (GTIN / EAN / UPC)

The product's standardised barcode identifier, where available.

No Standardised Product Identifier

Select this option if the product does not have a GTIN, EAN or UPC.

Step 4: Enter or Override the Product Identifiers

Selro can use the product identifiers stored in your inventory to populate the shipment's customs information.

You can manually enter or override these values during shipping label creation.

For example:

  • If the manufacturer part number is missing, enter the correct MPN.

  • If the product barcode is missing, enter the correct GTIN, EAN or UPC.

  • If the merchant product reference needs to be different for the shipment, enter the appropriate reference.

  • If the product does not have a standardised barcode, select No Standardised Product Identifier.

Important: Any manually entered or overridden values should reflect the actual product being shipped.

If an order contains multiple products, check the identifiers for each item separately.

Step 5: Save the Customs Information

Once you have entered or updated the required identifiers:

  1. Review the customs information for each product.

  2. Click Save Changes.

  3. Continue with the shipping label creation process.

The manually entered or overridden identifiers will be used as the shipment's customs information, where supported by the selected carrier integration.
